Singer King Cruff keeps Marley’s legacy alive with new song “Proppa Ghanda” – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Canadian Jamaican King Cruff questions everything, especially in his new song “Proppa Ghanda”.

The singer invited Deco to sit down and listen, and let’s just say you’ll get moving and grooving as soon as you hear his new song.

King Cruff: “No surprise / all these excuses won’t be surprising”

The legend of Bob and Rita Marley is carried on by their grandson King Cruff.

King Cruff: “First cut deep like a samurai punch”

And now he’s jamming to the beat of his own drum.

King Cruff: “The foundation is very hip-hop, very Kendrick-esque, Andre 3000-esque. And I grew up in Jamaica, so there’s a lot of reggae and dancehall there. I like all kinds of music: funk, disco, all that music that you put together.”

How do you like the 305?

King Cruff: “I used to come here a lot when I was younger, but we come from Canada. From the cold. It’s hot. Sorry, but the sun is shining on me right now.”

This rising star entered the SoFlo scene.

King Cruff: “Miami is known as a party town. I never really partied here until this trip. We touched a few places, we went to the Shrine. We ended up at E11even. We got conned into going there. But it was still a cool time. 50 Cent was there, so that was dope.”

King Cruff: “And it feels like Proppa Ghanda”

His new single “Proppa Ghanda” features:

King Cruff: “It’s pop, probably my poppiest record. But at the same time you can still hear reggae elements, like the skanking in the guitar playing, especially in the second verse.”

King Cruff: “Your side knows better than to play with me / Offline you can never stay true to yourself”

His songs also have a romantic touch.

King Cruff: “Only come alive at night / She just wants to be loved, loved”

King Cruff: “I think you’re right. I think romance is a big part of my life. Love is everything. So I sprinkle that in. We release the music in a way that people can immediately identify with. I think everyone can identify with being in love, falling out of love, being in a relationship.”

So where is the “right” place to listen to your music?

King Cruff: “Ooo, in any environment. I mean, as long as it’s everywhere, you know what I mean. You can play it in the club, you can chill out. You can play it for your family. You can dance to it. That’s the kind of music I make. No matter where, you think, oh, this can exist.”
