LAWRENCEVILLE – Real Central New Jersey lost 2-1 to South Jersey Elite Barons FC in WPSL play Tuesday night at Ben Cohen Field on the campus of Rider University.
Delaney Lappin scored two goals before and after halftime to give the visitors a 2-0 lead before Morgan Kotch pulled one back for the home side in the last minute.
Villanova-bound Kotch, who was named NJ Gatorade Player of the Year after a record-setting career at Pennington School, took a pass from Rider’s Nicola Mosionek (Hopewell Valley) to score the goal for RCNJ.
RCNJ (4-4-1, 13 points) fell behind SJEB FC (4-1-3, 15 points) in the Mid-Atlantic Conference Colonial Division standings. RCNJ has one game left – a home match against Fever FC on Sunday – that they must win and find support elsewhere if they want to qualify for the Mid-Atlantic Conference playoffs.
The top two teams from each division of the Mid-Atlantic Conference qualify for a wildcard round with the opportunity to represent the conference in the East Region playoffs.
