Cincinnati native Emily Henry’s book will be released as a Netflix series

CINCINNATI – Another day, another victory for New York Times bestselling author and Cincinnati native Emily Henry.

The Lakota East graduate just announced that her 2023 novel, Happy Place, will be turned into a Netflix series for Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions.

“I’m thrilled about this show and the team behind it,” Henry said in a message to readers on Substack. “Nuyorican has been incredibly supportive and enthusiastic about my hopes, dreams and vision for this show. In this industry, it’s far from a given that an author will be closely involved in adapting their works, but they (and Netflix!) have been so intentional about including me, and together we will all do our best to make a series that you, the readers, will love.”

The bestselling novel follows ex-partners Harriet and Wyn, who must pretend to be together for the sake of their friends when they were once happy. The novel shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list upon its release and jumped to the top of the paperback bestseller list this year.

In her message, Henry said that there’s “actually a LOT more to tell very soon,” but for now, her biggest fans will have to be satisfied with the news of the thing’s existence.

Henry’s previous novels – Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation and Book Lovers – are all being made into films. This would be the first series to be created from her works.

According to Deadline, Lopez is expected to produce the series along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina.
