The story behind the famous spit-take scene from Fast And Furious with The Rock, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson

The story behind the famous spit-take scene from Fast And Furious with The Rock, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson

As with any Fast & Furious Film apart from Fast Xwhich ended with a rather nerve-wracking cliffhanger, Fast & Furious 6 concluded with the victory of the good guys. After the defeat of Owen Shaw, Dominic Toretto and his crew returned to the Toretto family home in Los Angeles to celebrate. This meeting also served as the location for one of the Fast & Furious the funniest moments of the franchise. An amusing retort from Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) to Tyrese Gibson’s Roman Pearce caused Ludacris’ Tej Parker to spit out his drink, and the latter actor has opened up about the story behind that spitting.

In case you need a refresher, when Hobbs showed up at the party, Roman yelled at Mia Toretto to “hide” her baby oil, a jab at Hobbs’ bald head. Roman quickly said he was just mad, but Hobbs replied, “You better hide that huge forehead!” Tej spat out his drink and Roman was stunned. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Ludacris confirmed that his reaction was unplanned, then explained how the Fast & Furious 6 Moment came:

It was a spontaneous laugh that wasn’t part of the script. And I actually whispered to Dwayne Johnson to say that, and I didn’t think he was going to do it! So it was a real reaction when he actually said it to Tyrese in his own way, and Tyrese’s reaction was also very surprised because he had no idea The Rock would do that. So yeah, 100% real, and that’s why I spit out my drink. People have been wondering this for years, and I’m here to let you know: We try to make it as real and surprising as possible to get those real reactions.
