Watch Hozier perform “Work Song” with Ed Sheeran at PinkPop 2024

Hozier brought Ed Sheeran onstage to perform “Work Song” during his set at Pinkpop 2024 – listen to it below.

Hozier often performs the hit from his self-titled debut album with a guest at live shows, and the live broadcast on Pinkpop in the Netherlands was no different, as Sheeran was invited to take the stage.

“The next song is a real treat and I’m so, so honored to be able to do this. It’s going to be so much fun. I want to invite one of the biggest artists in the world on stage. Aside from being an incredible songwriter, he’s also a wonderful human being and a wonderful guy.”

PinkPop was a busy weekend for Sheeran, as he also performed a cover of The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes” with Limp Bizkit.

Earlier this month, Hozier also shared the stage with Lucy Dacus to sing “I, Carrion (Icarian)” in New York City. Last year, Dacus, Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers invited Hozier onstage at a Boygenius show in Boston to perform “Salt in the Wound.”

Earlier this year, he became the first Irish artist since the late Sinead O’Connor – and only the fourth ever – to top the country’s Billboard Singles Chart with “Too Sweet” from his recent EP, Unheard.

Last year he spoke to NME about his career so far and in particular the huge success of his debut single “Take Me to Church” from 2014.

“I think you just look at the numbers. I don’t try to quantify to myself what a song did based on its numbers,” he said. “When I wrote it, I was super proud of it. And I’m incredibly proud that this song – out of everything I wrote – was the one that was a crossover hit.”

“It was an unlikely pop hit at the time and an unlikely radio hit. It was a gift to me. But I think there’s a certain amount of internal janitorial work (necessary) – like not racking your brains about ‘OK, what number is it on now?’ I’m just so grateful that it’s connected in this way.”

In other news, Royal Blood have covered Hozier’s “Eat Your Young” for BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge.
