The Marigold Club is a new London-inspired restaurant in Houston

It’s time for you to head to Houston for a “fancy but not formal” evening.

Goodnight Hospitality, the group led by Master Sommelier June Rodil and Chef Felipe Riccio, is opening Marigold Club on Tuesday, a London-inspired restaurant that’s going big with French-influenced cuisine in a sumptuous setting. At the helm is Chef Austin Waiter, who spent time in some of London’s most famous spots ahead of the opening.

“A meal at Marigold Club will be an experience unlike any other in Houston,” Waiter said in a statement. “Guests will experience little pieces of all my favorite spots in London scattered throughout the menu while enjoying an ice-cold martini and a mind-blowing raw bar program that utilizes seafood our team has researched and sourced fresh from the bayous of the East Coast. These are just a few of the things Marigold Club has to offer, and I can’t wait for the city to experience the rest.”

As mentioned, seafood features heavily across the menu. The Raw Bar’s seafood towers can be accompanied by gold or platinum Osetra caviar service, as well as a scallop crudo with Meyer lemon chutney or tuna tartare with Earl Grey and kohlrabi. Caviar is also highlighted on a Kaluga caviar sandwich with chive crème fraîche, while a twist on the classic fish and chips (called fish “not” chips here) includes lightly fried shellfish and green beans with citrus yogurt.

Heartier dishes include a Crescent Island Duck Wellington with roasted maitake mushrooms and a roasted lamb fillet on romesco. And save room for dessert: Custom-made ice cream carts will drive around the dining room offering chai tea, whipped cream and chocolate ice cream with toppings like molasses brownie pieces, candied hazelnuts and vanilla marshmallows.

As for drinks, you can be sure Rodil has put her training to good use, along with the restaurant’s wine director, Ryan Cooper. The two have placed a heavy emphasis on French winemakers and Champagne, and the “Get Chuffed!” features a dozen oysters alongside a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée. Waiter said there will also be a selection of martinis, and once brunch begins in September, high tea service will be available.

Such luxurious food deserves an ambience that does justice to the plates, and Goodnight Hospitality worked with architects Fox Fox Studio to achieve this. The restaurant seats 160 and features green velvet ceilings and lush banquette seating. Hand-painted murals are a nod to Bemelmans’ iconic drawings at the Carlyle in New York, while the hallways are adorned with floral wallpaper by de Gournay.

The Marigold Club is simply a delight for the senses, from the sight of the interior to the deliciousness of the cuisine.
