Netflix’s live-action series “One Piece” introduces “pretty cool powers” in season 2

As they leave the East Blue Saga behind, One Piece editor Eric Litman gives a taste of the exciting developments in the second season.

The Alabasta Saga (also called Baroque Works Saga) is a direct continuation of One Piece’s East Blue Saga. The live-action series ended Season 1 with the Straw Hat Pirates making their way to the Grand Line; the Straw Hats are then expected to have to survive dangerous rapids and a giant whale before sailing towards Whiskey Peak, a town populated exclusively by bounty hunters from the Baroque Works. The Netflix series compressed the entire East Blue Saga into eight episodes but managed to adapt its major storylines; the same is expected for Season 2 with its limited episode count. The Alabasta Saga unfolded in five story arcs with 74 episodes (anime) and 117 chapters (manga).

Baroque Works agents make their debut in One Piece Season 2

Mr. 9, Mr. 3, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine are just a few of Baroque Works’ agents. Mr. 9 is a bounty hunter who rounded up former Frontier agents to capture the Straw Hats at Whiskey Peak; Mr. 3 is a former agent officer with a complicated alliance with Luffy and an open dislike for Mr. 5 who started out as Baroque Works’ lowest-ranking agent officer alongside his partner Miss Valentine. Most of Baroque Works’ agents work in pairs, so it’s likely that more actors will be announced to expand the ensemble.
