The lead singer and co-founder of the rap-rock band Crazy Town, Shifty Shellshock, died on June 24 at the age of 49.

The Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that the American musician was found dead in his apartment. However, the cause of death has not yet been announced.

Shifty Shellshock, born “Seth Binzer,” began his career in 1992 when he teamed up with Bret “Epic” Mazur to form “The Brimstone Sluggers.” To refine their sound, they officially formed “Crazy Town” and brought in a completely new lineup, including Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr. (aka JBJ), Doug Miller, Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM), and Antonio Lorenzo “Trouble” Valli.

Crazy Town rose to fame in November 1999 with the release of “Butterfly,” the third track from their debut album, The Gift of Game. It became the anthem of the era and reached the top of the charts, staying at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. Unfortunately, the rock band was unable to repeat this success with their next releases, leading to their disbandment in 2003.

Shellshock began his solo career in 2004 with his debut album, “Happy Love Sick.” Over the years, he told the world about his battle with drug addiction, speaking about it on reality shows such as VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House.”

Shifty Shellshock has had a significant impact on the music industry and will always be remembered as a talented musician who helped shape the sound of alternative rock in the early 2000s.

Rest in peace.
