Céline Dion’s highly anticipated documentary I Am: Celine Dion, which details the Canadian singer’s diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, is now available to stream on Prime Video.

After several dates of her December 2022 European tour were postponed, Dion announced that she had been diagnosed with a life-changing neurological disorder that causes spasms that affect her ability to walk and use her vocal cords to sing like she used to.

In addition to revealing more details about Dion’s diagnosis, the documentary also includes archival footage and behind-the-scenes insights from her entire career, as well as new interviews with the world-famous singer as she struggles with her diagnosis. At one point, as seen in the trailer, she breaks down in tears as she recounts the recent health challenges she has faced.

Dion made her first public appearance since announcing her diagnosis at the 2024 Grammys, where she presented Taylor Swift with the Album of the Year award for “Midnights.” Onstage, she said, “Those who have been fortunate enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and the lives of people around the world.”

In his review of the documentary diversity Film critic Peter DeBruge writes that “the icon’s power ballads find new resonance through a deeply personal look at her struggle with stiff-person syndrome.”

“Like everything Celine Dion does, ‘I Am’ feels very personal and sincere, but it also managed to be almost self-defeating,” he wrote. “That’s not to say Dion didn’t give (director Irene) Taylor full creative control, but you get the feeling the filmmaker didn’t want to include anything her subject matter wouldn’t approve of. Surely it was difficult enough for Dion to show her fans the impact SPS had on her life and her voice.”
