Disney World Announces Changes to Lightning Lane – Book in Advance – World Of Walt

More than a year after announcing plans to simplify Genie+ and Lightning Lane, Disney has announced changes to the services.

Disney Genie+ will be rebranded at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The service can also be pre-purchased at Walt Disney World.

Let’s take a look at the changes that will come into effect on July 24, 2024:

Renaming and rebranding

Disney will rename the Genie+ service to both Disney World and Disneyland.

The company will rename Genie+ to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and individual Lightning Lanes to Lightning Lane Single Pass.

Pay and book in advance

Guests staying at a Disney World hotel can purchase Lightning Lanes seven days in advance. Hotel guests can book Lightning Lane passes for the duration of their vacation, up to 14 days.

All other guests can purchase Lightning Lane three days before their first day in the park at 7:00 a.m.

As with the previous FastPass+ system, guests can also book their Lightning Lane before paying. This allows guests to confirm they will receive the attractions they want before paying.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+)

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows guests to select up to three Lightning Lane activities at a theme park on a day in advance. They can choose from a variety of available times. On the day of their visit, they can select additional activities after using a Lightning Lane Pass.

Lightning Lane Single Pass (formerly individual Lightning Lanes)

The Lightning Lane Single Pass service remains largely unchanged, except that guests can make their selections in advance. Guests can make one or two selections per day for high-demand rides such as TRON Lightcycle/Run or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
