Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone play Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock”

Guy Ritchie’s The young Sherlock The child prodigy’s parents were cast in the series.

Sherlock’s father Silas is played by Joseph Fiennes, while Natascha McElhone is Sherlock’s mother Cordelia. Fiennes, who we revealed earlier today is starring in the BBC drama about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, joins his real-life nephew Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who plays the Protagonist.

Sherlock’s father is a scientist, explorer and self-made businessman, while his mother is described as a devoted mother, artist and matriarch of the Holmes clan.

Inspired by Andy Lane’s critically acclaimed book series, Prime Video’s series follows the 19-year-old disgraced, raw, unfiltered and unformed genius as he becomes embroiled in a mysterious murder case at Oxford University that threatens his freedom. Throwing himself into his very first case with a blatant lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to uncover a globe-spanning conspiracy that will change his life forever. Ritchie will direct and executive produce the eight-part series, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In addition to the Zaghari-Ratcliffe project, Fiennes is also directing Dear England, the BBC TV version of the stage play about the English football team, in which he plays manager Gareth Southgate. McElhone recently played the role of Dr. Catherine Halsey in the Paramount+ series gloriole and as Bella Ainsworth in Hotel Portofino.

Simon Kelton (Eddie the Eagle), Ivan Atkinson (The gentlemen), Simon Maxwell (The Woman in the Wall, Deep State), Dhana Gilbert (The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel), Colin Wilson (The Mandalorian), Marc Resteghini is also an executive producer. Harriet Creelman serves as co-executive producer. Kelton originally conceived the project and packaged it with Atkinson, then partnered with Motive Pictures, Gilbert and Resteghini, who developed the series and brought it to Amazon MGM Studios. Gilbert and Resteghini have overall deals with Amazon MGM Studios.
