Travis Kelce talks for 10 minutes about Taylor Swift and how much he loves her

As if you hadn’t noticed in the last year or so, Travis Kelce is very big in Taylor Swift. But just in case you still have doubts, Kelce appeared on a podcast where he spent 10 minutes talking about how proud he was of “my girl. That’s my lady.”

In the latest episode of Kissing with the boysa podcast by former NFL players Will Compton And Taylor Lewanposted on Tuesday, Kelce did his best heart-eyes emoji impersonation while talking about his very famous girlfriend. (He also talked about football, but let’s be honest.) The interview was recorded on June 19, according to the show notes, before his surprise appearance on the Eras Tour.

Of particular note is Kelce’s account of “why I really fell in love with her.” He talked about how Swift was conscious of her fame, but also made sure to make people feel comfortable and not distract attention from other people’s big moments, like the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.

“She’s very confident, but at the same time, it’s like she understands these situations,” Kelce said of Swift. “And I think that’s why I really fell in love with her, because she’s so genuine with friends and family. It can get crazy for someone with so much attention, and she just stays so relaxed and cool, and I can definitely admire that.”

Kelce’s comments are just the latest form of public displays of affection from the couple. In the last five days alone, they have immortalized their relationship in selfie form with three heirs to the throne, Taylor wore a “TNT” ring during her performances, Travis carried Taylor on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans, including Sir Paul McCartney (and don’t forget the not-so-subtle kiss she blew Travis before he left the stage wearing his giant Louboutins), Taylor shared photos of said body-wear on Instagram, telling her 283 million followers that she’s “still foaming with laughter/ecstatic over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut 🥰,” a custom Super Bowl-style ring that Taylor received from Gigi Hadid featuring several of the singer’s “favorite things,” including a portrait of one of her cats (Benjamin Button, you’re the chosen one) and Travis’ jersey number 87.

We’ve come a long way since the Bears’ first game and Kelce’s November 2023 comment in which he explained that he was trying to keep his mouth shut to “make sure I don’t say anything that might upset Taylor.”

“Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone who has that aura about them… I’ve never dealt with it,” he said at the time. “But at the same time, I’m not running from it… The critical looks she gets, how much scrutiny she gets every day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living and enjoying life. If she’s acting like that, I better not be the one acting that weird.”

Now, he is still not the one who behaves strangely, as he himself says, but he makes no secret of his feelings for the singer.

“It’s a case of wanting to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything,” he said on the podcast. “That’s my girl. That’s my wife. I’m proud of that. So I’m not sitting here trying to figure out how to keep that under wraps. You just don’t want to let everyone in on your private life and be able to comment on it when you know that everything she does is making headlines.”

Swift’s ability to keep things normal earns her “a lot of brownie points,” according to Kelce. “Damn, she’s in the middle of all this madness, she wants to be a part of it. She wants to support me and do things like that, I was like, man, she really won me over with that.”

And he supports her too: Grinning, he told the presenters about Swift’s “electrifying” concerts and about “seeing her in her element, giving it her all up there on stage.”

He didn’t hold back when asked to name his three favorite Swift songs. “Love Story,” described by Kelce as an “all-time banger” (and by fans as an all-time “did that backing track between those two really just happen?!” moment), didn’t quite make the cut, but a song with “a little too much sentimental meaning, I guess” did.

Exactly: “So High School,” an ode to hanging out on the couch, playing video games and staring at each other with gooey eyes. An anthem to the feelings of affection.

“You know what I mean?” Kelce added. “You know how to play, I know Aristotle, man.”
