MBDA introduces the Land Cruise Missile (LCM) system, a new ground-based deep precision strike capability that meets the demands of the new strategic battlefield environment.
Press release from MBDA
The Land Cruise Missile (LCM) builds on MBDA’s entire expertise in the field of deep precision strike and is based on the battle-proven Naval Cruise Missile (NCM) used on frigates and attack submarines of the French Navy.
The LCM system represents a unique European solution for a long-range ground-launched cruise missile system, designed, manufactured and assembled in Europe. Customers operating NCM missiles and LCM systems belong to an exclusive club of countries with the capability of very long-range precision strikes, both from below and from the sea surface, as well as from the ground.
“The Land Cruise Missile system complements MBDA’s comprehensive portfolio of critical European sovereignty solutions. Building on the success story of the Naval Cruise Missile, MBDA is demonstrating its ability to cover the full spectrum of our customers’ operational requirements while creating synergies in our Deep Strike portfolio to ensure combat readiness.”

The LCM system will provide the same unique capabilities as the NCM, including metric precision at very long ranges, high survivability in penetrating enemy integrated air defense systems thanks to reduced radar cross-section and terrain-following capability, and high lethality against targets. It will also enable a highly accurate synchronized time-on-target (STOT) capability. as the simultaneous NCM attack by a frigate and a submerged submarine has already showncarried out by the French Navy with the support of the DGA in April 2024. The LCM makes it possible to induce aggressive behavior in peer adversaries by posing a permanent and immediate threat to the enemy’s high-value assets.
With the LCM operating concept, MBDA offers a comprehensive integrated system with a mission planning suite and ground launch facilities mounted on dedicated land platforms, providing ground forces with flexibility, survivability and responsiveness in high-intensity situations.

Comments from Naval News:
MBDA’s LCM could become a European equivalent of the Mid-Range Capability/Typhon system (based on the Tomahawk cruise missile) being developed in the USA and intended to fulfil a similar role: precision strikes at great depths. It is currently being tested with both the United States Army And US Marine Corps.
