Last month, the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and the William Floyd High School Literary Magazine Club combined their efforts to host the annual Arts Alive Night, which includes an art auction, living art gallery and coffee house event. Students, teachers, administrators and members of the school community gathered to celebrate this fun, annual event where students showcased their musical talent, recited poetry and performed in a living art gallery.

In one cafeteria, guests listened to music and poetry performances by students while enjoying coffee and refreshments from local businesses. In another cafeteria, attendees had the opportunity to bid on original student artwork and tour the Living Art Gallery, which featured immersive “live art” performances in which students recreated famous works of art.

Students from both NAHS and the Literary Magazine Club worked hard to put on the event under the guidance of their advisors. NAHS advisors Erika Licausi and Theresa Bianco, chair of the Fine Arts Department, oversaw the arts portion of the event, while Literary Magazine advisors Skylar McGarrity and Holly Mascolo provided the musical performances and refreshments.

In total, nearly $2,000 was raised at this year’s event, with all proceeds going toward senior scholarships for members of the NAHS and Literary Magazine Club. The NAHS and Literary Magazine Club look forward to continuing this tradition at next year’s event!
