k-ID closes  million Series A funding round

childa Singapore-based provider of a global compliance engine that simplifies online safety and privacy management for game developers, parents, kids and teens, has raised $45 million in Series A funding round.

The round, which brought the total amount to $51 million, included participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Lightspeed Venture Partners, Konvoy, TIRTA, Okta and Z Venture Capital from Japanese technology leader LY Corporation.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its operations and business scope.

Founded by Kieran Donovan, Timothy Ma, Julian Corbett and Jeff Wu, K-ID is a cross-platform instant sign-on solution for kids and teens, designed to answer the complex question of privacy and online safety for young gamers on a global scale. Game publishers that integrate with k-ID represent games and online experiences played by hundreds of millions of kids and teens around the world every day, including popular experiences from some of the world’s largest public and private gaming companies. The company also leverages insights from current and former regulators to maintain a dynamic youth compliance platform for game developers.

To strengthen its affiliation and support within the industry, k-ID has also announced a partnership with the ESRB Privacy Certified program. This partnership offers game publishers the opportunity to use k-ID’s technology to achieve the ESRB Privacy Certified Kids seal.
