Will Smith presents new hit at the BET Awards

Will Smith will perform a brand new song at the 2024 BET Awards.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — best known for making us all “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” saving the world in “Men In Black,” and making the Wild West even wilder in “Wild Wild West” — released the song “Get Lit” in 2017. However, he hasn’t released an album since 2005’s “Lost and Found.” Coincidentally, 2005 was also the last time he graced the stage at the BET Awards, a ceremony that honors black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.

In a twist of fate that might have the Fresh Prince himself nodding in approval, “Lose Control” hitmaker Teddy Swims recently revealed that he’s written a song with Will. Whether or not that song will premiere at the awards is still a mystery.

The “Door” singer has no idea what will come of his collaboration with the 55-year-old Hollywood star and rapper, but he is in a WhatsApp group with him and his mother, who is a big fan.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with it and I can’t confirm anything, but just being around him and learning knowledge and wisdom from someone who’s been through all of that has been crazy. I was at his house trying to FaceTime my mom because she loves him.

“She didn’t reply but he gave me his number and texted me at 8am the next morning saying I could put us all in a group chat,” Teddy told NME.

The 31-year-old singer couldn’t stop gushing about the “Men in Black” star – who, let’s not forget, made headlines for a completely different reason when he slapped comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

“He’s the nicest guy ever,” Teddy added, proving once again that everyone loves a good comeback story.
