Club hopes for better TV coverage through expansion plan

Boston United players lift the trophy

Boston United has been promoted from the National League North (BBC)

If the plans are approved, Boston United’s soccer stadium will be expanded to improve television coverage.

The club has submitted an application to install a TV bar in the East Stand of the Jakemans Community Stadium.

The company said its plans had been “accelerated” by the Pilgrims’ promotion to the National League last season.

The Boston Borough Council must approve the plans before work can begin.

Club secretary Craig Singleton said the goal had always been to have a standalone portal.

“Promotion to the National League has really accelerated this,” he said. “The application has been received, hopefully in preparation for the new season.”

The expansion is expected to enable the club to benefit from greater TV presence as part of the national league.

“The promotion made us realize that we really need to take care of this,” he added.

The new portal will be built on the roof of the east stand on the ground floor, opposite the main stand.

Currently, the games are being filmed from the west stand, which, according to the club, is not a high stand.
