49 – Chris Tavener pretends to be cool

49 – Chris Tavener pretends to be cool

How will the audience remember you the next morning?

I want them to leave wanting more – so I hope my audience will still be singing the songs the next morning and giggling to themselves. Although they might feel a little exposed or teased… because I love writing songs about relatable subjects, in a cynical way. All in all, I hope they remember that we had a LOT of fun.

What do you/your show do to make the audience’s hearts beat faster?

I know I’m wrong! I like to tease the audience before I completely change the tone. Suspense is part of the fun. As a singer-songwriter with a knack for funny lyrics, I find it exciting to play with expectations. Hopefully they still think there’s a happy ending.

Which coffee should it be for you/your show and why?

Since I’m lactose intolerant, I drink my coffee black. I like my comedy… but if I were coffee, I’d probably be a mocha. I hide my darkness behind a faint layer of quirky sweetness! I’m always faking it.
