The Rocket Mortgage Classic returns to Detroit Golf Club for the sixth year. The tournament, featuring 156 golfers, begins on Thursday, but events will also be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday: First Tee — Youth Clinic in Greater Detroit
When: 3 pm
Where: Driving range behind the clubhouse.
TV/Streaming: None.
The buzz: “The First Tee – Greater Detroit Youth Golf Clinic, presented by PGA TOUR Superstore, offers elementary and middle school-aged youth the opportunity to learn fundamental golf skills and tips from professional PGA TOUR golf instructors,” said a press release from Rocket Companies. “This (Watch & Learn) format allows participants to watch the pros hit balls and discuss their shots. No equipment is required.”
Tuesday: Area 313 Celebrity Scramble
When: 17 o’clock
Where: Detroit Golf Club.

The buzz: The Area 313 Celebration Scramble will pit six teams of four against each other in a three-hole exhibition match on holes 14 through 16 at Detroit Golf Club. In addition to the usual golf stars such as Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo and Detroit Lions legend Calvin Johnson, WWE wrestler “The Miz,” Sam Merrill of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson and former Michigan and NBA star Chris Webber will also participate in the event.
Wednesday: Detroit Community Days and Delta Dental Pro-Am
When: Admission is at 6:45 am
Where: Detroit Golf Club.

The buzz: “For the third consecutive year, Detroit Community Days presented by Jeep® will offer all fans free admission and parking for the Rocket Mortgage Classic special events on Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. The brand will be on-site to showcase its Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee models,” said a press release from Rocket Companies. “On Wednesday, June 26, fans can get up close and personal and watch PGA TOUR pros play in a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day at the Delta Dental Pro-Am at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.”

Thursday – Sunday: Rocket Mortgage Classic
Rickie Fowler is the defending champion and Willie Mack III earned a spot by winning the John Shippen Invitational over the weekend. The final four spots were decided in a qualifying tournament on Monday, with Brandon Berry, Nick Bienz, Angelo Giantsopoulous and Danny Guise making the cut.
When: Admission is at 6:45 am
Where: Detroit Golf Club.
TV: Thursday and Friday — Golf Channel (3-6 p.m.); Saturday Sunday — Golf Channel (1-3 p.m.), CBS (3-6 p.m.).
