States with most Men’s College World Series titles

These are the states with the most Men’s College World Series titles:

  • California leads all states with 23 championships.
  • Arizona State has won nine titles.
  • Texas has won seven national titles. Louisiana has won seven titles, all by LSU.
  • Florida has five championships, the fifth most of any state.
  • Five states – Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee – have won three titles.
  • Two states have won two titles as Mississippi joined Michigan with Ole Miss’ 2022 championship.
  • Seven states – Georgia, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia – have won a title

23 — California

California is the state with the most Men’s College World Series titles, followed by Southern California with 12 titles, the most of any university. The state is also home to the first-ever Men’s College World Series winner in 1947, when California won its first of two titles. Cal State Fullerton won four titles, and Stanford claimed two straight titles from 1987-88. UCLA, Fresno State and Pepperdine round out the Golden State’s championships with one title each.

9 – Arizona

Arizona State has won nine titles, with Arizona State leading its southern neighbor Arizona at 5-4. Each team has won 50 percent of its appearances in championship finals, with the Wildcats bringing the last title back to the Grand Canyon State in 2012.

7 (tie) – Texas

Texas’ seven Men’s College World Series titles have been won primarily by the Texas Longhorns, who have won six titles in total. The Longhorns won the first-ever Men’s College World Series title in 1949 in Omaha. Since then, they have earned as many national runner-up finishes as titles in the College World Series finals. Rice added to the Lone Star State’s collection of titles, winning the 2003 title.

7 (tie) – Louisiana

Every Men’s College World Series title in the state of Louisiana has been won by the LSU Tigers. The Tigers have the second-most titles of any program, last winning in 2023.

5 — Florida

The Sunshine State has won five titles in its history, led by Miami (FL.) with four titles. The Hurricanes have won four of their six finals appearances, including a victory over in-state rival Florida State in 1999. The most recent title among Sunshine State programs was won by the Florida Gators, in 2017.
