13 famous men who were 50 or (much) older when they decided it was time for their first child

The percentage of births to fathers over 50 has increased significantly in the last few decades. And of course there’s nothing wrong with having children after age 50, but I was curious to see which famous men became fathers later in life, so here are a few that surprised me.

1.In 2015, Jeff Goldblum had his first son with his wife Emilie Livingston at the age of 62. In 2017, they had another son.

2.In 2012, at the age of 67, Steve Martin had his first daughter with his wife Anne Stringfield.

3.In 2017, George Clooney’s wife Amal Clooney gave birth to their first two children, twins, when he was 56. Amal was about 39 years old at the time.

4.In 1982, at the age of 51, James Earl Jones had his first son with his second wife Celia Hart, who was about 34 years old at the time.

5.In 2014, Simon Cowell had a son with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman at the age of 54. Lauren was about 37 years old at the time.

6.In 2018, John Stamos became a father for the first time at the age of 54 when his wife Caitlin McHugh gave birth to their son. She was about 32 years old at the time.

7.In 2003, David Letterman had his first child with his then-girlfriend Regina Lasko at the age of 56. Regina was about 43 years old at the time and they are now married.

8th.In 2011, at the age of 51, Hugh Grant had his first daughter with his then girlfriend Tinglan Hong. He has five children in total. He has two with Tinglan and three with his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein.

9.In 2019, Andy Cohen had his first son through a surrogate mother at the age of 50. In 2022, he welcomed a daughter through a surrogate mother.

10.In 2020, Anderson Cooper had his first son through surrogate with his former partner Benjamin Maisani at the age of 53. Benjamin was about 47 years old at the time and they welcomed their second son in 2022.

11.In 2010, Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish became fathers for the first time through a surrogate mother at the age of 63. David was about 48 years old at the time. The couple had a second son in 2013.

12.In 2017, Jonathan Silverman became a father at the age of 51 when his wife Jennifer Finnigan gave birth to their daughter. She was about 38 years old at the time.

13.Finally, in 1992, Warren Beatty’s first child was born when he was 54 years old. Annette Bening was about 34 years old at the time and the couple married two months later. In total, they have four children.
