In 2025, three-star linebacker Chase Taylor commits to Michigan

Brian Jean-Mary just earned his first commitment during his second tenure as the Michigan Wolverines’ linebackers coach when 2025 three-star linebacker Chase Taylor announced his commitment Monday afternoon.

The Stockbridge, Georgia, native is a tall 6’3″ and 200 pounds. He received an offer from Michigan’s old coaching staff in the fall, but was also heavily courted by Jean-Mary and the new defensive coaching staff. He visited Michigan last weekend and announced his decision shortly thereafter.

While Taylor isn’t the most touted prospect, he could at least provide some much-needed depth to Michigan’s linebacker core. There is only one freshman linebacker in Cole Sullivan, as Jeremiah Beasley transferred to Missouri shortly after spring ball. Aside from Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham, there aren’t many options at the position right now, so the position could certainly use reinforcements.

In addition to Michigan, Taylor had offers from USC, South Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, Duke, LSU, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and others.

Taylor is the fifth defensive player to join the Wolverines in the class of 2025, joining four-star defensive back Kainoa Winston and a trio of four-star defensive linemen consisting of Nate Marshall, Jaylen Williams and Bobby Kanka.

In the 247Sports Composite, Taylor is the No. 582 overall player, No. 61 linebacker and No. 64 player from Georgia. Check out highlights from Taylor’s junior year in the video below.
