The Ukiah Daily Journal’s annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah has now reached $28,703, on track for its $65,000 goal.

Recent donations include: Kathleen Brigham $250, Jeff Trouette Plumbing Contractor $200 in memory of Hugh McAvoy, Judy Waterman $100, Elaine & Adam Rahmani $65, Theresa Sessoyeff $50, Bard & Marilynn Zensen $50, Moria Lawlor $25, Bryan & Lynettte Lowery $25.

Today’s Community Donors: $765

Campaign total raised: $28,703

The Boys & Girls Club would like to extend a special thank you today. Bryan Lowery shared, “My wife Lynnette and I feel it is important to continue to donate to BGCU. They are a valuable resource for children and families. We know first hand that without the Club, we would not be able to do our work (at Social Services and Raleys) and our children would not have had the benefits that BGCU offers. Even though we are not there right now, our thoughts are with you.”

Theresa Sessoyeff wrote: “Thank you for all you do for our boys and girls of Ukiah.”

Moria wrote: “Here is a small donation. Keep up the good work for the children. All the best, Moria Lawlor.”

Finally, we want to say a huge thank you to our Ukiah Ross Store and its customers! Ross Stores and the Ross Stores Foundation are long-time partners of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and national sponsors of Power Hour, our after-school homework help and learning program. This tutoring program serves members ages 6-18 with the goal of increasing academic success and better preparing club youth to enter the workforce and colleges, and equip them with the skills they need to compete globally.

Each year, Ross hosts a fundraiser and invites customers to donate at checkout to support their local club’s Power Hour program. Ross matches those donations. Thank you to all of our community shoppers who helped at the Ross checkout. This year, with Ross’ matched donations, you raised an incredible $8,000 for our club. (Note: This Ross fundraiser occurred before our UDJ fundraiser and is not included in the totals above.)

You can join other community members and organizations supporting the club by sending donations for this year’s UDJ fundraiser for the club to Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah, PO Box 67, Ukiah CA 95482.

If you prefer to donate via PayPal or credit card, you can go directly to the club website ukiahbgc.org where you will find a “Donate” button in the top menu bar.

The Ukiah Daily Journal hosts this event every year because we know how important it is that the children in our area are not sitting at home alone or wandering aimlessly through the streets. Working parents need the sanctuary of the club to have peace of mind, knowing that their children are happy and safe and not bored or having problems at home.

To support the campaign, send donations to Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah, PO Box 67, Ukiah, CA 95482. Donations can also be dropped off at the UDJ office at 415A Talmage Road. As always, we will print the names of donors to thank them for their help unless anonymity is requested.
