Love Island’s Chloe Burrows announces new ‘Showmance’ project

Love Island star Chloe Burrows has announced a new documentary about “showmances.”

The star, who came runner-up in the 2021 summer series of the ITV2 dating show, hosts Love in the Limelight: Untold, which is now available to stream on Channel 4.

“I’ve wanted to make a documentary for a while, just to explore a different avenue, and I think it was really important that, firstly, it was something that I had experience of so I could relate to it, but then also something that was relevant and that hadn’t been talked about yet,” she told The Sun.

In it, Chloe and Too Hot to Handle star Harry Johnson enter into a fake relationship to see what effect it has on their careers, including getting press photos and brand deals, while exploring the price of being a famous couple.

The film also features real celebrity couples, such as Millie Court and Liam Reardon and Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey.

Explaining her choice, Chloe said he was “not too close to home” and had a “healthy” fan base online.

Chloe found that her fake relationship actually made the news – several publications reported on the couple’s so-called romance – while Harry gained 18,000 more followers on social media.

“I was so shocked by it, I had never thought of it – that you get followers when you’re with someone on Love Island, but it’s definitely something to think about in the future,” she admitted. “Do you want me or do you want 18,000 followers?”

The star also revealed that her own grandmother fell for the press reports, explaining: “She’s 75, but she reads newspapers and checks online and she thought, ‘Who is this man you’re with?'”

Speaking about the potential reaction from the public, Chloe added: “I’m really nervous about the reaction as it’s obviously a completely new approach for me, but I found filming this documentary so interesting and I really hope that viewers react the same way.”

Love in the Limelight: Untold is available to stream now on Channel 4. Love Island will be broadcast on ITV2 and streamed on ITVX.
