Donora Fire Company President Rhys Taylor has passed away

DONORA, Pa. (KDKA) – Donora Fire Company President Rhys Taylor has passed away.

The fire department announced Monday evening that longtime volunteer firefighter and president Rhys Taylor has died.

Donora Fire Company President Rhys Taylor has passed away. He was a volunteer member of the company for ten years and served as President for the last five years.

Taylor began his career as an emergency medical technician in 2018.

He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Donora Fire Company for the past ten years and was its president for the past five years.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the William R. Taylor Funeral Home in Monessen.

Rhys Taylor was 31 years old.

When news of Taylor’s death became public, fire departments and emergency services throughout Washington County and Mon Valley shared condolences on social media.

“Rhys’ dedication and service to his community will never be forgotten,” said the Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Department.


As an escort carried Taylor’s body through the area, a flag was raised outside Pleasant Hills Station.

“Rest in peace, brother. Fly high. We’ll take it from here,” said the Rostraver Community Volunteer Fire Department.

“Donora may be on the other side of the county, but the fire department is definitely a brotherhood,” said the Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Department.
