Timberwolves give head coach Chris Finch a contract extension

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KELO) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a four-year contract extension with head coach Chris Finch.

Finch led the Timberwolves to a 56-26 record in the 2023-24 season, the second-highest win total in franchise history.

As the number three seed in the playoffs, the Wolves, led by Finch, reached the Western Conference finals for only the second time in franchise history and the first since 2004. In the Western Conference finals, the Wolves were eliminated in 5 games by the Dallas Mavericks.

“I want to thank Glen, Becky and the entire organization for their continued support and commitment to me and the team,” Finch said. “I am proud of how we have been able to establish a great culture here at the Timberwolves and I look forward to continuing to lead this organization and make our fans proud.”

“Chris is a wonderful coach and an even better person,” said Tim Connelly, President of Basketball Operations. “We are thrilled to reward him with a well-deserved contract extension. Under his leadership, the team has improved each year and he is the perfect leader for our organization.”

Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The extension runs through the 2027-2028 season.
