The live-action adaptation of “Land of Tanabata” will be released on July 4 on Disney+ Hotstar

The previously announced live-action adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki‘S Tanabata no Kuni The manga was released on Disney+ Hotstar on July 4th and the English title Land of Tanabata.

There is also a teaser trailer that gives us a look at the protagonist Yoji Minamimaru (played by Kanata Hosoda) and the mysterious premise of the story.

Below is the official description of the show:

The series follows Yoji Minamimaru, a distracted university student who discovers he has the seemingly useless ability to make a hole in everything. Affectionately known as Nanmaru to his friends, Minamimaru suddenly finds himself at the center of a crisis that could potentially mean the end of the world, and only his useless power can help him.

The original manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits from 1996 to 1999, spanning four tankoubon volumes. There is also a two-volume kanzenban release.
