Walmart’s BookTok-inspired “Spicy Summer” campaign is really fun

If you love reading (and are also on TikTok), you’re probably already familiar with BookTok, the corner of social media where countless people share book recommendations—and where viral books are created every day. One of BookTok’s latest obsessions is “spicy books,” many of them in the romance genre, which is currently having a major moment. Book reviewers on TikTok like to use things like chili pepper emojis to rate these books based on how “spicy” they are (i.e., how hot the romance is).

To celebrate BookTok, spicy summer reads, and all things heat, Walmart has launched a “Spicy Summer” campaign that includes a limited-edition Spicy Books Hot Sauce set that looks like a book and includes five Melinda’s hot sauces that range from mild to burning hot, plus some of the summer’s hottest romance books — and some other classics you can use while reading poolside while looking hot and spicy.
