Dylan Dreiling of Tennessee baseball team named MVP of the College World Series

Dylan Dreiling’s outstanding performance at the College World Series deserved the recognition it deserves on Monday.

The Tennessee baseball left fielder was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player after the Vols defeated Texas A&M 6-5 to win the first national championship in team history.

Dreiling hit home runs in every CWS final game, including a two-run home run to lead in the seventh inning of Game 2 and a two-run home run in the seventh inning of Game 3. Monday’s home run extended the Vols’ lead to 5-1 at a crucial time in the deciding game.

The sophomore finished with a .541 batting average and 11 RBIs and three home runs in six CWS games.

Dreiling began the CWS with a 4-for-6 day against Florida State, including the walk-off hit in Tennessee’s comeback win on June 14.

The Hays, Kansas native had a stellar 2024 season as the Vols’ starting left fielder, hitting 23 home runs and 73 RBIs while hitting a .341 batting average as the fourth man in Tennessee’s dynamic lineup.
