Is a third running back for Michigan football still in the running?

The Michigan football team is working on recruiting players under head coach Sherrone Moore and it feels like things are just getting started for the Wolverines in the class of 2025.

Although the Wolverines have received five commitments in the past two days and seven in the past two weeks, expert forecasts say they are currently ahead with six more recruits for the class of 2025, all of whom are blue-chip candidates.

However, after the Wolverines signed two running backs in the past two weeks, it’s fair to wonder if Michigan Football is still trying to sign a third, such as Jordon Davison, who recently took an official visit to Ann Arbor.

Davison is 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and is ranked No. 96 in the class of 2025 according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Coming from Mater Dei, one of the top programs in the country, Davison appears ready to make an early impact at the next level and has considered Ohio State and Oregon as well as the Wolverines.

Davison most recently visited Ohio State. Before that, he visited Michigan and the Wolverines improved their position. Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider reported that Davison is still a favorite for the Wolverines and that won’t be a problem for Donovan Johnson or Jasper Parker.

Johnson, a four-star recruit, looks healthier and had a solid workout with the Wolverines where he looked “95 percent healthy,” according to Webb.

Johnson was a top-100 recruit, maybe even a top-50 recruit if he doesn’t get injured. He’s still ranked 232nd overall and has a lot of potential left. But another elite running back like Davison would strengthen the running back corps even further.

Three running backs is a lot for one class, but few college football teams run the ball as much as Michigan, and as we all know, Sherrone Moore is looking to win big.
