Spring Lake Rite Aid and others close in Michigan

SPRING LAKE, Michigan — According to a report from Scripps News Detroit, 191 people will lose their jobs when a Rite Aid distribution center in the Pontiac area closes.

West Michigan is also losing at least one Rite Aid store. The entire front of the Spring Lake store is covered in signs.

“Super disappointed,” said Tawny Garza.

“It’s a little annoying,” said Michael Duar.

“I just thought, ‘What? It’s closing?'” Cavina Robinson said.

For people who call the Village of Spring Lake home, it is disappointing to see the signs outside the pharmacy, located in the middle of the main part of Spring Lake.

“For me, it’s just centrally located,” Garza said.

For many, the store is centrally located.

“Very, very convenient for many people who live here in the village,” said Duar.

The discount signs are surprising.

“Business is pretty good here, so I was shocked when I heard about the closure,” Robinson said.

The Spring Lake Rite Aid is just one of about a dozen confirmed closures in Michigan.

“All I know is that it’s a nuisance here. It’s a small village,” said Duar.

Even though the offers are good at the moment, people are confident that this place will not remain empty for long in the future.

“You know, what we’re hoping for as a community is that it will be replaced,” Duar said.

There are reports that Rite Aid will close all stores in Michigan, but Rite Aid has not directly confirmed this.

Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year.
