16-year-old youth arrested for attempted murder in Hollister

Hollister police have announced the arrest of a 16-year-old youth on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a recent shooting.

The shooting occurred on the night of June 6 in the area of ​​Sally Street and Third Street, police said in a press release.

Officers had arrived in the area after receiving reports of gunfire and learned that a juvenile victim had been hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Officers reportedly found empty cartridge cases at the crime scene.

Investigators believe there was an argument between four or five people. At one point, one of the perpetrators fired a gun and hit the victim in the shoulder, police said.

On Thursday, June 20, detectives executed a search warrant in Hollister in connection with the investigation.

During the search, authorities were able to locate and arrest the 16-year-old suspect. He is suspected of attempted murder and “several firearm offenses.” A firearm was also found in the suspect’s possession, police said.

The investigation is still active.
