Please, please, please don’t try to drag Sabrina Carpenter into this!
A keyboard critic of her latest single “Please Please Please” learned this the hard way when his hateful comment on the song didn’t go over particularly well.
After the “Espresso” singer’s follow-up hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Monday, June 24, she hit back at the online troll by posting screenshots of the chart positions alongside his comment.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone screw up a second single so badly. Oh my gosh,” read the review posted on X (formerly Twitter) in early June.
Carpenter, 25, responded with the Screenshots and this playful message: “ohhhh 😭😭😭 I am a grateful, grateful, grateful girl.”

“Please Please Please” is Carpenter’s first No. 1 hit in her ten-year career. Her breakthrough hit “Espresso” debuted at No. 4 on the Hot 100 this week and peaked at No. 3 earlier this month.
The success of “Please Please Please” is mainly due to the music video, in which Carpenter’s friend also appeared. Saltburn with Barry Keoghan as the star.
The catchy song, produced by Jack Antonoff, who frequently collaborates with Taylor Swift, also catapulted to the top thanks to praise from celebrities.
The kissing booth Star Joey King recently gushed about the song, telling PEOPLE, “I’m so happy for her and I just can’t stop singing ‘Please Please Please’… I have to get that out of my head. It’s so rude of her to make a hit like that. It’s also so rude of her to make such an addictive music video. It’s really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.”

On June 24, Carpenter also posted the screenshots on Instagram, with a lengthy caption thanking Antonoff for his producing skills, Amy Allen for co-writing, and Laura Sisk for sound engineering.
“MY FIRST #1 on the @billboard HOT 100!!!!!!! And Espresso at #4… I’m so grateful and will cherish this day for the rest of my life!” Carpenter wrote. “@jackantonoff @amyallen I love this song to death and I love you both!!!!! I love our high-pitched claps!!!!! I love @sharp_stick !!!! All good things come in threes 🥲.”
