Deadpool and Wolverine director would “love” to make a Spider-Man crossover film

While Deadpool and Wolverine is the dream crossover Ryan Reynolds has always wanted to do, director Shawn Levy already has another team in mind that includes Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Levy is said to be a candidate for Avengers 5 and will also be involved in the fifth season of Stranger Things next year. But he also has his eye on a dream crossover with Deadpool and Spider-Man.

Shawn Levy wants to make a Deadpool and Spider-Man movie next

After Spider-Man: No Way Home featured the web-slingers of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the same frame as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Deadpool & Wolverine was arguably set to be the next big crossover event for the MCU. But there’s also the possibility of Deadpool and Spider-Man working together, as that’s what Shawn Levy wants to do next.

In an interview with Total Film Magazine (via Games Radar), Levy said:

“I think Deadpool makes everything more interesting with his audacity. But boy, I’d really like to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to do.”

He further praised Tom Holland’s skills in crossover events:

“I feel like Tom Holland would outrank everyone else.”

Holland’s wall crawler has already appeared in four MCU crossover events, including Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, with the Deadpool & Wolverine director wanting to do a crossover with him, there’s a strong chance that MCU’s Deadpool 4 and Spider-Man 5 (or 4) will be turned into a Deadpool and Spider-Man team-up movie. However, nothing is confirmed at this time.

The two characters had an iconic “bromance” in the Spider-Man/Deadpool comic series. Many enjoyed seeing them together in Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, so MCU fans might be intrigued by their alliance on the big screen. Whether that gets the official green light remains to be seen.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released on July 26, 2024.
