Jessica Alba’s new action film tops the Netflix streaming charts

Jessica Alba’s latest action film is the undisputed champion on Netflix this week, displacing Richard Linklater’s latest film, HitMan.



Trigger warning premiered on Netflix on June 21 and immediately climbed to the top to become the number one movie on the platform. Trigger warning Alba, Anthony Michael Hall, Tone Bell, Mark Webber, Jake Weary and Gabriel Basso are also in the cast. The official synopsis of the film reads: “A special forces unit uncovers a dangerous conspiracy when they return to their hometown to find answers about the death of their beloved father.” The film is directed by Mouly Surya, director of the 2017 film “The Last Man.” Marlina, the murderess in four actsand was written by Josh Olson, John Brancato and Halley Wegryn.

Trigger warning displaces Linklater’s quirky new crime comedy from first place, while Dreamworks’ Home comes in at number 3 on the Netflix top 10. The film also marks the return of its star Alba to the cinema, who had not acted in a film since Killers Anonymous (2019). Alba was a staple of the entertainment industry of the 2000s and was once unavoidable in the cinema landscape. She starred in films such as Fantastic FourAnd Sin City. However, her latest work has received harsh criticism so far. Trigger warning On Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ rating is currently at 24%, while the audience rating is a meager 17%.



Upcoming Netflix Movies to Look Forward to

Trigger warning may be at the top of the charts right now, but Netflix has some exciting projects coming soon that are sure to delight its subscribers. Next week, Richard LaGravenese’s new romantic comedy, A family affairwill premiere on the platform, starring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. LaGravenese is no stranger to creating hits for the rom-com genre, as his film PS I Love You Failed at the box office in 2007. Netflix will also host the return of the legendary SpongeBob SquarePants. After several delays Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie will finally be released on the platform in early August.

Probably the most anticipated film for the platform in 2024 will be the return of Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley. Premiere on July 3 Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F starring Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Kevin Bacon. It’s been thirty years since Murphy played one of his most memorable characters, and he’s sure to bring a crowd to the stage when the fourth film in the series premieres.
