Carmine Lions Club appoints new officers; community dance evening planned for Friday

The Carmine Lions Club officers were sworn in on June 11. Come to Carmine Dance Hall on Friday, June 28th from 6:30pm to 9pm for a community dance night. Sound by Lathan will be playing all your dancehall favorites, all-time hits and current jams. Families are welcome and invited. Entry is free.

Carmine VFD

The regular meeting of the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department will be held on June 27th at 7 p.m.

The fire department festival and fundraiser will take place on July 21st. Fried chicken platters will be served at the drive-thru only. There will also be a drawing.

Remember to check your smoke detectors at all times to make sure they are working.

Magic of Casino Night!

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Casino Night Magic on Saturday, August 10th at Carmine Hall, starting at 6 p.m.

There will be a professional magic show by R.VEROTTI. Gary will serve a chicken fried steak.

Table sponsorships are available for $500. Call or text (512) 983-1115 or (979) 4511507 to reserve a table, which includes eight meals, beverages, wine, advertising at the event and gaming chips. Individual tickets are $65 and include gaming chips.

obituary

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Kim Wunderlich Lewis, who passed away on June 9th. She lived in Carmine during her early years and then moved with her family to Sheridan. She spent summers in Carmine with her grandparents. She was a physical therapist in Minnesota and Arizona. She loved the outdoors. Her funeral was held on June 15th at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, with burial in Carmine Cemetery.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine ISD administrative offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 3.

Offices will be closed due to Independence Day from July 3 to 7.

Martin Lutheran

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 am

The Saturday service with Holy Communion on the sixth Sunday after Pentecost takes place at 6 p.m.

Sunday school is on Sundays at 9 a.m.

Sunday service with Holy Communion at 10 a.m.

The pastor is Reverend David Tinker.

Recycling trailer

The recycling trailer will be located at Carmine Hall in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Clean plastic bottles and canisters numbers 1 and 2 are accepted. Please separate these. Plastic numbers 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are not accepted. Plastic bags are not accepted.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, glass of all colors, steel cans and aluminum cans. Staff are available to assist with unloading.

food on wheels

“Meals on Wheels for Seniors” and “Combined Community Action” meet every Wednesday in the mission and ministry building of the Martin Lutheran Church at 250 Augsburger Allee in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9am-11:30am.

The food usually arrives around 10am and must be picked up by 11:30am. There are five meals in a box plus milk, dessert and bread. The cost is a $10 donation, so $2 per meal. It is for seniors 60 and older.

Visitor center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center in the restored train station is open the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
