Country singer Mark Chesnutt, 60, recently underwent emergency four-bypass surgery, according to an Instagram update from his team. “Mark Chesnutt, one of the most recognizable country voices of the ’90s and a fixture on the honky-tonk scene for more than three decades, experienced a heart issue over the weekend that required him to be hospitalized on Sunday evening, June 16. Mark underwent emergency four-bypass surgery,” the post read. “Due to recovery time, performances must be canceled. Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time of recovery.”

At the end of the post, Mark himself announced that he had to cancel his upcoming performances. “It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the cancellation of my upcoming performances,” he wrote. “I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and the fans for their understanding, prayers and support and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky-tonk near you.” The “Brother Jukebox” singer recently toured the country and was scheduled to be on tour throughout the summer.

In November 2023, Chesnutt confirmed to his fans in an Instagram post that he was battling “extreme health issues” and would be taking time to focus on his health. “To my family, friends, fans and the country music community… Many of you who know me well know that I am fighting a battle that I have tried to overcome on my own for many years. Now, after some extreme health issues that I have recently experienced, the time has come. The battle is over,” he said at the time. “I have made the decision to take the time to get healthy. I will not be touring for the next few months to focus on my recovery… to take care of myself and my family and so that I can get back on the road to give back to ALL of you who have shown me unconditional support, care and love throughout my career,” Chesnutt continued. “I really appreciate your sincere understanding of my commitment, your sensitivity to my decision, and the privacy you are giving me this time. See you when I’m back on tour in February. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. God bless.”
