TV series “Proof” from Image Comics in the works at Fox

EXCLUSIVE: Comic book Evidence is being turned into a television series at Fox.

The network is developing a crime series about supernatural phenomena based on the Image Comics collection.

Written by Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo, the book brings together two unlikely heroes — disgruntled FBI agent-in-training Ginger Rodriguez and John “Proof” Prufrock, a jazz-loving Bigfoot — to protect the world from cryptids: obscure creatures whose existence has not yet been proven. While the two begin as a surprising duo, they develop an unlikely friendship, partnership, and possibly even romance as they work side by side to help save the world.

The series adaptation comes from Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott, who previously sold a supernatural feature film based on the IDW graphic novel Tradition to Warner Bros. with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The pair will write the hour-long drama, which will be produced by Fox Entertainment Studios. Terence Carter and David Boorstein of Westbrook Studios and Adam Goldworm of Aperture Entertainment will serve as producers. Grecian is a producer.

It is described as a cross between X-Files And Men in black. The comic series started in October 2007 and consisted of 28 issues until 2010.

Westbrook Studios, represented by CAA, is behind series such as Peacock’s Bel Air and Netflix Cobra Kai on the TV page.

The development project comes as Fox prepares for next season, which will see the launch of three new dramas: Rescue HI-Surf, murder in a small town And document. It also includes Matt Nix’ State Patrol (w/t) that has heated up for pickup.

Earlier this month, Fox CEO Rob Wade outlined his strategy, which includes producing more shows through the Fox Entertainment Studios division and finding more “sexy rebels.”
