Finnish minister announces swift action on new sanctions against Russia

According to UkrInform, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that work on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia will begin immediately after the introduction of the 14th package.

Their demands came after the adoption of new restrictions on Russia’s energy, finance, trade and transport sectors.

They also banned political parties, non-governmental organisations and media service providers in the EU from accepting funding from the Russian state and its proxies and imposed further restrictions on the export of goods that benefit Russian industry.

“I am grateful for the 14th sanctions package; the negotiations took a long time. However, the sanctions package is very extensive and of course all countries have their own views that must be taken into account.

But I am very pleased that this package has been introduced and, of course, work will begin immediately on the next sanctions package,” said Valtonen.

According to the official, the EU could expand the list of entities and companies subject to economic measures in the next package.
