Darlene Marion Taylor (93), lovingly remembered as “Granny Goose,” passed away peacefully at her home in Detroit Lakes, MN, on June 19, 2024.

She was born on November 3, 1930, to John and Hilma (Bovie) Ahlbom in Little Falls, Minnesota, where she grew up as the youngest of five children and graduated from high school in 1949.

Darlene married Harlan Taylor on September 8, 1949. The couple moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1953, where they raised their five children.

Darlene loved to cook and bake, tend to her flowers, spend time with family and friends, and most of all, share her hope for the future with everyone she came into contact with. She was known for her wonderful hospitality, opened her home and heart to many young people, and never hesitated to expand her family. She touched the heart of everyone she met, both here in Minnesota and in Florida, where she spent her winter months starting in 1975.

Darlene was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 12. She devoted herself to teaching her children about Jehovah and continued her ministry diligently until her death.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: her husband Harlan, her son-in-law John McRae, her daughter-in-law Jane Taylor, and her grandchildren Summer and Dustin Taylor.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Beatrice) Taylor, Diane McRae and Cheryl Taylor of Detroit Lakes, MN, Alan Taylor of Alma, CO, Mike (Shelly) Taylor of Apopka, FL and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
