Lil Yachty releases the song “Lil Mega Minion” from the soundtrack to “Despicable Me 4”: Listen

The new movie will be released in a few weeks Despicable Me 4 will hit theaters and parents around the world will be forced to approve of the Minions’ antics. Right now, various marketing operations are already bombarding us with content around the Minions. Pharrell recently released his song “Double Life” – a terrifying statement for those of us who remember that “Happy” from Dispicable Me 2. Thankfully, “Double Life” probably won’t reach that level of cultural saturation, but now Lil Yachty comes along with a song called “Lil Mega Minion.”

“Lil Mega Minion” may appear in the film, but does not have to Despicable Me 4. The track seems to exist solely as a marketing project and is probably the idea of Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett. Two years ago, Bennett shot a trailer for the film Minions – In search of the mini bossand he got Yeat, a rapper with a distinctly Minion-like delivery, to record a song called “Rich Minion” to mark the occasion. Lil Yachty, another rapper whose high, soaking wet flow sometimes sounds like a Minion, seems to be working in that tradition.

“Lil Mega Minion” is a short sketch of a song and probably won’t be one of Lil Yachty’s defining works, at least not unless it somehow becomes a massive hit. Cole Bennett directed the video for the song, which features Zane Lowe and various Minions. If you feel like you need to experience it for yourself, you can do so below.

Minions: Yachty can’t take your loot either; I don’t give a shit who you hang out with.
