Darius Rucker shares his love of wine with a new partner: “I fell in love from the first glass”

Most people know Darius Rucker for his work with Hootie and the Pufferfish and his country solo career, but he has many interests outside of music – including wine.

Rucker has a partnership with the winemaker Chris Radomski to his As One Cru wine brand and tells ABC Audio there was a simple reason he wanted to get involved.

“I fell in love from the first glass,” he says, noting that getting started was a “piece of cake” for him after being so impressed by the Cabernet.

“I was asked to do so many things with spirits and all sorts of things, but it never really seemed real,” he says. “What I really loved about One Crue was that it was real.”

As for why Darius was the right person for their team, Chris explains: “I find that the fields of food, wine and music are connected in many ways in the arts. And when I met Darius and learned about his great love of wine, I thought this could be a great opportunity to achieve that outreach.”

And while people out there have different ideas about what makes a great wine, for Darius it’s all about one thing.

“You know, that’s what I like. You sit down, drink a glass and you want another,” he says. “When I started drinking the One Cru… it was just like I wanted more of it.”
