Taylor Swift had no problem with Sabrina Carpenter modeling for SKIMS

Two months after posing for the shapewear brand, Sabrina Carpenter addresses online speculation about her participation in a campaign for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS.

The 25-year-old singer of “Espresso” told Rolling Stone In a new interview on June 17, Carpenter’s friend and tour mate Taylor Swift, 34, said she had no problem starring in the campaign despite Swift’s complicated past with Kardashian, 43.

“I’ve talked to her a lot about this situation and I just love her so much and support her until the end,” Carpenter said Rolling Stone by Swift.

The singer added to online conversations about the photoshoot: “While people would like to think that you are aware of every little detail, I am not because I am constantly working.”

For the April campaign, the “Please Please Please” singer showcased several new SKIMS items in a nostalgic ’90s-style bedroom. In a press release, Carpenter said she “loved the femininity of the entire creative (shoot). I love both collections, especially the delicacy of the stretch lace and the second-skin feel of Fits Everybody. Every piece I wore was super flattering and so comfortable, which of course is always a given with SKIMS!”

Carpenter has been a Swiftie for years, posting covers of herself singing Swift’s songs like “White Horse” as far back as 2008. The friendship between the two singers really blossomed after Swift announced that Carpenter would be opening for her on part of the Eras Tour in June 2023. Carpenter also attended a Kansas City Chiefs game with Swift in October 2023 to support Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and they were even spotted at the first weekend of Coachella on April 13.

“We talk very, very openly about our mutual love and admiration,” Carpenter said Rolling Stone by Swift. “I consider them to be in a completely different category.”

However, the situation between Swift and Kardashian goes back further and really took off in 2016 when the latter leaked a phone conversation between the singer and her then-husband Kanye West. In the phone call, they discussed West’s controversial song “Famous,” which references Swift. The full conversation between them was later leaked online in March 2020, revealing that West never told Swift the exact lyrics: “I made that bitch famous.”

In her interview with Time In December 2023, Swift said that the feud between her, Kardashian and West felt like “career death.”

“They have a completely staged lie in the form of an illegally recorded phone call that Kim Kardashian edited and then released to tell everyone that I’m a liar,” Swift said. “It took me to a place psychologically that I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to answer phone calls. I pushed most people in my life away because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I sank really, really low.”

Swift apparently referenced the feud between her and Kardashian in the songs “Cassandra” and “thanK you aIMee” on her recently released album. The department for tortured poets, and included references to the Kardashian family and the snake emojis that played a major role during their feud.

On April 23, a source told PEOPLE that Kardashian “doesn’t understand why (Swift) keeps bringing up (their feud),” that she’s over it and “thinks Taylor should move on.”
