FG Series presents fully electric racing car for double championship

Global all-electric motorsport series FG Series has unveiled the FG-Twin, which it claims is the world’s first all-electric racing car with two championship titles.

The car, which will be used in two racing stages, FG1 and FG2, is a dual-power single-seater racing car. The design was created by Daniel Simon, an automotive designer known for his work in films such as Tron Legacy, oblivion And Top Shooter: Maverick.

FG2 serves as the entry level model in the series and uses the FG Twin car at a lower power setting, with a focus on training drivers on their path to becoming professional racers. FG1 runs the FG Twin cars at a higher power setting for experienced professional drivers, offering improved performance, increased downforce and greater adjustment freedom.

Ahead of its inaugural season in 2025, the FG Series has unveiled the design of the dual-power single-seater race car. Simon worked closely with FG Series founders Dilbagh Gill and Nick Heidfeld to ensure the car embodies the series’ ethos of promoting electric and accessible motorsport.

Nick Heidfeld, co-founder and sporting director of the FG series, said: “Defining the styling targets was a collaborative team effort, but exceeding them while meeting the latest safety requirements and technical specifications was only possible thanks to the exceptional skills of Daniel Simon.”

“Our goal with the FG Series is to give talent from all over the world the opportunity to pursue their motorsport ambitions and we hope this is just the first of many dreams come true.”

In terms of design, the company says the FG-Twin stands out from traditional single-seater categories with its modular design and features a fully electric powertrain that allows for both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. The model can run the front and rear axles with a peak power output of 350kW. The car also features an Easy-Change system for quick hardware adjustments to enable easy transitions and tailored racing experiences for drivers in both championship levels.

Daniel Simon said: “FG Series made me an intriguing offer: to design an advanced open-wheeled monoposto that would meet performance and regulation targets while offering modern automotive styling. As a car designer with a passion for motorsport, my job was to make it poster-worthy from every angle. The result is a machine with an iconic rocket-inspired shape, automotive crease lines, balanced proportions, a dynamic stance and sci-fi lighting details. Such attention to aesthetics is rare in racing cars and I hope this will delight racers and spectators of all generations alike.”

The race car is designed to be used by multiple drivers over a race weekend to promote affordability for teams and drivers.

Sustainability is also a key feature of the FG Series. The car also features advanced technological features that enhance the spectator experience, such as digital screens that display live infotainment with key statistics such as battery level, race position and performance information.

Updates on development, FG Twins specifications, riders, teams and partners will be announced in the coming months.
