Padraig Harrington wins on the PGA Champions Tour with a famous hat trick

Padraig Harrington completed a famous hat trick with his third victory in as many years at the Dick’s Open in New York.

The Dubliner shot a round of 68 (four under par) to claim his 8th victory on the Champions Tour, just days before teeing off at the Senior US Open.

“I couldn’t be happier. It’s been a great week here, everyone has looked after us,” he said after his win, adding: “They’ve extended for five years, so I have a chance to win eight years in a row. Let’s see how we get on.”

After reaching the turn at four under par, Harrington made a ten-stroke bogey to give his pursuers some hope, but finished strong to take the win.

“I guess my money is really good because when I came down this track I wasn’t sure what I was going to get.

“Either I hit it completely, or I have to get it up and down from some weird place. It’s entertaining. I wish it wasn’t so entertaining.”
