Michigan Gaming Control Board seizes illegal gaming machines

Authorities seized six slot machines from a location in Saginaw.

The USA Michigan Department of Justice and that Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) executed a search warrant at a bar in Saginaw. With the assistance of the Michigan State Police, they seized 6 slot machines along with $2,820 in gift cards and $5,161 in suspected gambling proceeds from the Red Horse Bar at 4780 State Street.

The MGCB stated that despite issuing a cease and desist notice, the venue owners failed to comply. The defendants were charged with gambling offenses and released on $6,000 bail.

Managing Director of MGCB Henry Williams said, “The Michigan Gaming Control Board remains committed to ensuring compliance with all state gaming regulations. We will continue to work diligently to identify and eliminate illegal gaming activities that pose a threat to the integrity of the industry and the welfare of the public.”

The MGCB reported that 64 businesses received orders to stop illegal gambling in 2023. It said 167 illegal gambling machines were taken out of service and 79 machines were confiscated. Nine people were criminally convicted of gambling and 24 were charged with illegal gambling.
