Charli XCX asks fans to stop chanting “Taylor Swift is dead” at shows

Charli XCX is not here because fans want to turn her against Taylor Swift.

The singer shared a message with his fans on Sunday, June 23, asking them not to sing: “Taylor (Fast) is dead” at their concerts following a performance at the ZIGclub in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the previous evening.

“Can the people who do this please stop. Online or at my shows,” she wrote on Instagram Stories, sharing a screenshot of an X-post purporting to show the offensive behavior. “It’s the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that anyone thinks there’s a place for it in this community. I will not tolerate it.”

Charli, 31, recently released her sixth album, bratand fans quickly speculated that one of the songs, “Sympathy is a Knife,” was about Swift, 34. Charli is engaged to the 1975 drummer George Daniela bandmate of Swift’s ex, Matty Healy.

“I don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show / I’m keeping my fingers crossed / I hope they break up quick,” Charli sings in the track.

The “Von Dutch” singer had previously opened for Swift on her Tour of the Reputation Stadium in 2018. Charli and her opening act Camila Cabello came on stage with Swift to also perform “Shake It Off.”

However, in 2019, Swifties criticized Charli for her comments about her performances on the tour.

“I’m really grateful that (Taylor) invited me on this tour,” Charli told Pitchfork in 2019. “But as an artist, it kind of felt like I was walking up on stage and waving to 5-year-olds.”

Meanwhile, Swift’s latest tour – The Epoch Tour — ended three consecutive nights at London’s legendary Wembley Stadium on Sunday. The last of the three concerts featured the singer’s boyfriend, Travis Kelceand joins her on stage.

At the end of Swift’s Department for Tortured Poets section, the pop star had her dancers dress her for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” while she pretended to throw a tantrum. On Sunday, there was a third dancer: Kelce, 34, joined Kam Saunders And Jan Ravnik in a matching cutaway and top hat. Kelce pretended to blush Swift’s cheeks before dabbing on invisible makeup himself. He also performed a special jig on stage.

Swift’s London shows have attracted big stars, including Paul McCartney, Nicola Coughlan, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Andreas Schröder, Jon Bon Jovi, Tom Cruise And Travis And Kylie Kelce.
