With over 237,000 Votes reported throughout Oklahoma, around 29% of Republicans voted for Jason Hornback, while about 18% supported Russell Ray.

Bingman will face Democratic candidate Harold Spradling and Libertarian candidate Chad Williams in the November 5 general election.

Bingman did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment Tuesday evening.

The Corporation Commission is a three-member body that regulates various industries, including the state’s public utilities. While elections for commissioners rarely attract attention, the commission has been publicly criticized for its handling of debt securitization following Winter Storm Uri, which caused natural gas prices to rise nearly 40,000 percent.

In his campaign leading up to the primary election, Bingman said his priorities as commissioner would be “good governance” and that he would leverage his experience in public office and in the private sector in the oil and gas industry. Bingman raised over $336,000 for his campaign, including money from people with close ties to the companies he will regulate as commissioner.

Hornback’s campaign raised about $25,000, focusing on his industry experience and bringing a “fresh perspective” to the commission. Ray, whose priorities were transparency and “more diversity,” raised just under $3,000.
