Burlington County’s summer concert series begins June 28 with a tribute to Johnny Maestro Doo-Wop

WESTAMPTON – You don’t have to travel far or pay a lot of money to enjoy the greatest hits of Neal Diamond, Hall & Oates, Johnny Maestro and more this summer.

This year’s Burlington County Summer Concert Series features tribute and cover bands of all ages and genres, returning to the Burlington County Amphitheater most weekends from late June through August.

Featured artists include The Reagan Years, an ’80s tribute band known for their interpretations of pop, rock, new wave and heavy metal hits by MTV-era greats such as Madonna, Bon Jovi, Billy Idol and Hall & Oates.

Other artists on the concert program include popular Jersey cover band The Nerds, Huey Lewis and the News tribute group Back in Time, Neil Diamond tribute band Real Diamond and Nine Deez Nite, a group of musicians playing ’90s hits by artists such as Pearl Jam, N’Sync, Nirvana, Snoop Dog and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The concert series begins on June 28 with Step by Step, a doo-wop band celebrating the music of ’50s and ’60s legend Johnny Maestro.

“If you love jazz, classic rock, doo-wop, R&B, pop or country, this year’s summer concert series will have something for you,” said Felicia Hopson, director of Burlington County Commissioners. “The free concerts are a great way for families and friends to come together and enjoy great performances from local, regional and national talent.”

All concerts in the Burlington County Summer Concerts series take place at the Burlington County Amphitheater, 5 Pioneer Boulevard in Westampton. Admission is free.

The complete program of the summer concerts is as follows:

June 28: Step By Step, a tribute band celebrating the music of Johnny Maestro.

June 29: Real Diamond, a tribute band that plays faithful interpretations of Neil Diamond’s hits.

July 12: The Wonton Soups play funk, ska, swing, pop, big band covers and originals.

July 13: Face to Face, a California punk band that has been performing since the early 1990s. Their music was featured in the films Tank Girl and National Lampoon’s Senior Trip.

July 26: The Reagan Years, an ’80s tribute band playing hits from that era by Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Madonna, Billy Idol, Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Hall & Oates and others.

July 27: Back in Time, a tribute band celebrating ’80s pop sensation Huey Lewis and the News.

August 2: Black Frost Band, a funk, R&B and jazz band from Willingboro, influenced by the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, War, The Doobie Brothers and Toto.

August 3: Haley Mae Campbell, a country artist from Nashville, guest on CMT’s “Next Up Now.”

August 9: House of Hamill, Pennsylvania trio plays Celtic folk music.

August 10: Nine Deez Nite, a 1990s tribute band specializing in covers of Pearl Jam, N’Sync, Snoop Dogg, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

August 16: Variable Elements, a Philadelphia-based horn band that plays covers from a variety of genres, including Top 40, Pop, R&B, Funk, Smooth and Acid Jazz.

August 17: Edie’s Basement, a Medford band that plays covers of classic rock music.

August 23: Eco Del Sur, specializing in Andean and Latin American folk music

August 24: The Nerds, playing R&B, funk, dance, punk, new wave and pop hits since 1985.

Shows begin at 6pm with a prelude, followed by the evening’s main act at 7pm. Visitors can set up chairs and blankets in the amphitheater starting at 4pm. Seating is first come, first served, with the top row reserved for visitors with reduced mobility, including people using wheelchairs, walkers or canes, and their caregivers.

Concertgoers are allowed to bring their own food and drinks. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vaping products or other drugs are not permitted.

Organized by the Burlington County Parks System with support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the concerts are part of a season of fun entertainment, educational classes, programs and events offered throughout the summer in the county’s parks, museums and galleries.

Last year, more than one million people visited a county park or participated in a park event, class or program.

“The Burlington County Parks System offers hundreds of different programs and events each year, from nature walks and yoga classes to film festivals, trivia contests, history lectures and more,” said Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel, liaison to the Department of Resource Conservation and Parks. “No matter your age or interests, you can expect to find an activity or event that you and your family will enjoy.”
