My first interview with James Lee Burke took place in 1997. We talked about his novel “Cimarron Rose”. He came to my station and we did a live interview. At that time, Burke was still going on reading tours. They were exhausting tours. Burke and his wife Pearl drove all over the country to perform. Years later, he noticed
during one of our many conversations that after the restriction of tours his

amusing. He giggled. How I enjoy this man’s laughter.

After our first interview, “Cimarron Rose” won the coveted
Edgar Award for Best Novel from the Mystery Writers of America. One year
Some time ago I spoke to him about his novel “Flags on the Bayou”. This book
earned him another Edgar Award for best novel. And the author published a
story collection six months ago, so we did another radio show together
and now he is back with another book, the 24th novel in this
fabulous series featuring Louisiana lawman Dave Robicheaux.

Purcel is one of my favorite characters in the world of literature. He is

I have to say, James Lee Burke is my favorite guest. We discussed
his last 21 books in a row!
